Star Party (Messier Marathon)

Event will be held near Beech Fork State Park park headquarters office. Bring your family and participate in the annual Messier marathon. This event will give amateur astronomers a chance to find 110 different objects first discovered by 18 century French Astronomer Charles Messier.

A Messier marathon is an attempt to find as many Messier objects as possible during one night. The Messier catalogue was compiled by French astronomer Charles Messier during the late 18th century and consists of 110 relatively bright deep sky objects (galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters).
