Cultural Discussion Panel: Building Community Through Activism and the Arts

October 4

Visual Arts Center | 927 3rd Avenue

7 pm

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, the MU Visual Art Center will be hosting “Cultura Discussion Panel: Building Community Through Activism and the Arts” featuring award-winning visiting authors, Carmen Gimenez Smith and Dan Vera, Latinx Marshall faculty member Monica Brooks (assistant vice president for information technology, online learning and libraries) and student organizer Gretel Toloza Alvarez (president of the International Hispanic Organization).

Panelists will discuss a little about how they self-identify, but primarily about Latinx culture and building community as through activist and artistic outreach. Whether or not a person identifies as Latinx, this panel will be applicable to anyone wishing to build community in their organization, major, dorm floor or town.
